Journal of the American Medical Association Endorses Chiropractic first and…

The Journal of the American Medical Assn. in their newest Journal recommend chiropractic as one of the first interventions for lower back pain before surgery. While this has been known for quite some time, it is really huge that the AMA who at one time conspired to contain and eliminate the chiropractic profession as a whole is now endorsing manipulation of the spine as a reliable method to use before more aggressive methods are performed.

While those who are familiar with our treatment and evaluation methods know there is much more to lower back pain than just the lower back (read Cheating Mother Nature, what you need to know to beat chronic pain to understand the condition more fully as a consumer), the medical world is realizing that it needs to embrace successful methods that not only work but has many physicians now using them as well to great effect. The biggest complaint of surgeons is lower back pain.

JAMA Article Suggests Chiropractic for Low Back Pain

A new article in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) suggests patients try chiropractic services and other conservative options such as acupuncture and physical therapy for the treatment of low-back pain. Surgery, according to the article, is not usually needed and should only be considered if other therapies have failed. The article reinforces the American Chiropractic Association’s position that conservative care options should serve as a first line of defense against pain.
