Is the Fluoride you consume in toothpaste and in some drinking water lowering your childrens IQ?

For years, Fluoride has been marked to prevent tooth decay, and in some areas of the country, it has been added to the drinking water. In NJ, American Water claims to have added it to the water supply (see their note here). Many opponents have suggested that it is not healthy to add to the municipal supply, and now some new information shows that pregnant mothers drinking Fluoridated water may have their offspring affected, with the side effect being a lower IQ. There are of course other side effects such as cancer you should also be aware of as well.

Fluoride is making your children dumber… according to a 2012 study from Harvard. Fluoride has been poorly studied, but is marketed as a way to prevent tooth decay. Most toothpaste brands include fluoride, as do most municipal water supplies.
According to the Harvard study, children who drank water with fluoride ended up with lower intelligence scores than children who didn’t. Researchers also linked fluoride drinking by pregnant mothers with lower IQ scores in their children.
Unfortunately, that’s not the only risk… Fluoride consumption is also linked to thyroid disease and cancer.
