Ivermectin; updated information shows this is not an effective treatment to prevent severe covid-19 illness.

Ivermectin; updated information shows this is not an effective treatment to prevent severe covid-19 illness. Ivermectin is inexpensive and now in short supply, as doctors prescribe this drug used for heartworm in animals or acne rosacea in humans for off-label prophylactic covid-19 use.  Some governments suggest they may not be able to get enough Ivermectin. Are people taking this as an unproven alternative to vaccination? Vaccination which is accepted and recommended internationally and Ivermectin are mutually exclusive in their intent and risk level.  True, vaccines have reduced the severity of disease but are not foolproof and they have a small Read More »

A new study suggests those who recovered from covid-19 infection have much higher immunity to the delta variant than vaccinated people.

A new study suggests those who recovered from covid-19 infection have much higher immunity to the delta variant than vaccinated people. I have been wondering why there has been very little discussion regarding those who had recovered from covid-19 infections. There is data showing that those who were vaccinated were more resistant to severe infection, but what about those who did covid-19 the hard way; by becoming infected. Is a covid-19 booster needed to maintain immunity for the immunocompromised or for the general public? The debate over covid-19 boosters has resulted in the US and Israel offering boosters based on the idea of waning immunity. Is vaccine refusal enabling the delta variant? Check this article out. My daughter in Chicago who works at the VA just told me that due to the rise of the delta variant, all federal hospitals such as the V.A. are now requiring vaccination for all their employees. This trend is also taking place in many hospital systems and in some workplaces. The case for mass vaccination  In NJ, close to 60% of the populace has been vaccinated against covid-19 and our numbers are rising as well.  Nationally, about 50% have been vaccinated. The governor of NJ has not reinstituted a Read More »

The government is working on a covid-19 anti-viral pill according to the NY Times.

The government is working on a covid-19 anti-viral pill according to the NY Times. Many of us have already had covid-19 and are perfectly fine, while some are having problems long after the infection. Yes, getting vaccinated markedly reduces your risk, although this approach does have a smaller amount of risk too.    On the other hand, while much safer than having covid, is there another way to get immunity with less risk? When I had Covid-19, my wife gave it to me even though she tested negative a couple of times and it seemed like a cold.   She had Read More »
