Walk around any mall or go to a ball game and you will see many Americans with large guts, filled with belly fat.
Diet, exercise and many other regimens often fails to make a dent in guts like these. A protruded abdomen is associated with metabolic syndrome, that includes diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure and a risk of having heart related problems.
A scientist suggested that the only way to reduce an abdomen like this is to assume a heart healthy diet. The Mediterranean diet comes to mind.
