We are heading into cold and flu season. Doctors throughout the state are offering the flu, RSV and even covid shots however, there is also a good likelihood you may experience one of the many other viruses and bugs out there so you need to be prepared. Giving into cold symptoms is not an option and I have learned that fighting back while experiencing the first signs of a cold will reduce the duration of the cold and even the time it takes to recover. I recommend everyone keep the following items in their medicine chest or wherever you keep your medications. Dr. C’s cold survival protocol. 1. Echinacea (helps fight cold viruses as the body is being attacked). Take two per every two hours when beginning to feel symptoms. 2. Alive vitamin c powder – one level tsp taken with water or Juice every two hours. Discontinue if you develop diarrhea as you have reached the maximum your body requires. 3. Natures Way Nettle – This is a natural antihistamine and will help keep your sinuses clear. I prefer Nature’s way as it is effective for allergies in the spring and fall and the tablet form is inexpensive, lasts a while and is easy to take. 4. Alpha Glycosyl Isoquercitrin – This is immune support which will help you reduce symptoms and it improves the bodies abilities in fighting most colds and their symptoms. Take both the nettle and the Isoquercitrin together 2 tablets of each every four hours until the symptoms reduce. These are both available through our offices. 5. Zinc tabs can help speed cold recovery as well. There are many chewable ones that are helpful without the chalky aftertaste. 6. Amino Lysine 500mg every four hours which is anti viral. When going to battle with the next virus, fight back using this protocol. Drinking many fluids such as tea helps as well as staples such as chicken soup, otherwise known as Jewish Penicillin. I have often begun the protocol the evening I felt the symptoms and upon waking, the cold may have already been resolved. Exposure to those with colds and common viruses does not have to be a horrible experience. Fight back and feel better faster.
