Female veterans experience improvement of lower back pain according to a new study

A new study shows that female veterans who receive chiropractic care have an improvement in their lower back pain.  Female veterans are a growing group within today's military. As published in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics, the study’s authors note that musculoskeletal conditions such as back pain are the most common ailments among female veterans. The progress toward further integration of chiropractors in our armed forces has been slow, but veterans report high satisfaction with their chiropractic care. The American Chiropractic Association has been instrumental in pushing for more doctors of chiropractic to be employed by the VA system. While further study is going to be needed, this study follows many others that suggest that doctors of chiropractic are an essential service offered by the veteran's administration. They also report that female veterans on average access VA medical care more frequently than male veterans, have a higher outpatient cost per patient, and have a higher rate of a service-connected disability.
