A chiropractic adjustment improves our neurological function, mechanical function, and myofascial release, along with other methods used to improve how we function. It is also important to think about how many of the other functions of the body are tightly integrated into other systems.

The other day, I was reading about a company that is trying to sell the public on an implanted device to improve the tone and function of the Vagus nerve, the largest cranial nerve in the body. It controls stomach function, blood pressure, heart rate, and many other functions of the body. There are natural ways to stimulate this nerve as well that do not require unnatural stimulation.

The Lymphatic system is an important part of how we function as well. Everyone has heard of lymph nodes or heard of lymph nodes being removed when someone has cancer, but nobody thinks about this important system that is part of our vascular and immune systems. Most disease states involve the lymphatic system and the stasis that occurs when these important systems cannot flow properly. The results can be devastating to our overall health and wellness. The good news is that if we think about it systemically, we can make differences that reduce swelling, brain fog, fatigue, chronic pain, bloating, and more naturally. This is because our system is designed to be a self-sufficient, self-clearing, and self-cleaning our systems.

Many autoimmune diseases may ease or be resolved by improving gut function and by clearing the paths for lymph to flow. Oddly enough, most lymph is in the gut, and 70 percent of our immune system is in the gut.

The liver produces 50% of all lymphatics.

The sympathetic nervous system controls vascular tone, arteries, veins, and lymphatics.

1/3 of all lymph nodes are in the neck.

Lymphatic function is also important, and chiropractic can help.

From the chiropractic perspective, spinal adjustments can improve mobility and motion as well as the function of the musculoskeletal system. Chiropractic can also improve how extremities function as well. These are all systems that integrate and make up our systems for movement and health.

The whole body approach of chiropractic improves function naturally. Many of the chiropractic methods regularly employed improve how you move, feel, and function, and also improve your overall health.

Recently, some of our patients have noticed we have added methods to improve lymph flow, which are natural and improve how they feel. We are always looking to improve the already excellent results we get with our patients.

Many autoimmune and other disease states are improved using lymphatic drainage. The lymphatic system, when improved, can help your body function at its best. Obstructed lymph flow improves physiologic function.

Rather than treating disease states, improving lymph flow helps your body clear toxins and return to a better physiologic state.

Imagine reducing inflammation naturally, without the side effects of powerful, costly drugs, because we improve how the lymphatic system works. Maybe health is simpler than we think. We probably just need better answers. Simple lymphatic drainage techniques may be just what the doctor ordered.

Many of these methods have been part of the osteopathic literature for years. Maybe they should be part of mainstream medical practice naturally.

On your next visit, you may experience lymphatic drainage of common problem areas that can include

  • The collarbone region.
  • Behind the angle of the jaw
  • The shoulder or armpit regions.
  • The abdomen, especially around the belly button.
  • The lymph nodes around the inguinal ligament.
  • The nodes behind your knees.

Patients are often surprised by how they feel after experiencing lymphatic drainage. According to Dr. Andrew Taylor Still, the founder of osteopathic medicine, Illness is mainly due to stagnation of body fluids. If you can stimulate blood flow and other fluid motion, including cerebrospinal fluid and lymphatic drainage, the body will recover.

Myofascial release of common problem areas improves flow to these areas as well. Essentially, improved function of all systems will result in better health.

Chiropractic takes a natural, holistic approach to how we feel and function. Improve how body fluids work, how we function mechanically, and neurologically, and you will feel, function, and age better. Keep it simple, keep it natural. Think chiropractic first.
