While physical fitness is important, especially regarding cardiovascular health in older people, apparently, a new research study suggests that those who run regularly and get good cardiovascular workouts from running walk much better too. These benefits may also extend to other cardiovascular exercise regimens as well. While biomechanically, walkers and runners appear to be the same on the surface and in the way their joints look and work, the new research suggests that older runners actually have more pep in their step when walking, which may be due to muscular changes at the cellular level that affects the energy level they have.
