Living with chronic pain? Maybe you need to visit a chiropractor.

Too young to be in that much pain?   Whether it was from an old injury, a series of injuries, or everything that is achier over time, people are getting relief from the chiropractic holistic approach to musculoskeletal pain. Living with chronic pain is avoidable if you make the right choices.

The secret behind why we hurt?

In 2017, the Annals of Internal Medicine evaluated what worked for problems such as lower back pain.   The best available evidence said to avoid drugs and invasive procedures while offering a list of what improved lower back pain.   A number of those recommendations that included exercise, massage, and manipulation were procedures regularly used by chiropractors. The common element for pain relief was treatments, therapies, and other procedures that used movement. Chiropractors are the only group that uses a number of these treatments to resolve lower back pain.   The best available evidence says that chronic pain is caused by problems in the way you move.

Why is it that most physicians continue to recommend methods such as therapy to a part of the body, or pain management, or visits to a neurologist when a chiropractor is indicated as the best and most effective conservative treatment option to use first? Many regularly recommended procedures are ineffective, expensive, and sometimes can cause great harm to someone who is desperate and in pain. Many MRI imaging studies done too early can lead to procedures that are not necessary or harmful, when methods such as those used by chiropractors are effective at preventing problems such as back pain or sciatic pain from becoming chronic and worsening over time.

A growing number of medical physicians have used and benefited from chiropractic while others, continue to use flat earth ideas that the science of healthcare no longer supports.

Insurance companies including Medicare also make it more expensive to visit the right provider through tiered plans, limited coverage, or pre-cert programs that offer no benefit to the patient, while forcing them to make other choices due to financial considerations.  Many of these patients would have avoided chronic pain had they visited a chiropractor first, at a much lower cost. Perhaps, this is why so my people will pay for chiropractic care out of pocket when their insurance offers them poor choices or has artificial limits.

United Healthcare through their Optum subsidiary admitted that they do not need any more information to determine that chiropractic care offers more value at a lower cost for back pain and many other musculoskeletal problems. They have saved Millions by promoting the idea that you should see a chiropractor first for musculoskeletal problems.

There is currently a movement to pass HR 2654 which will give medicare patients full access and coverage. More congresspeople are signing on and by clicking the link, you can help us get more support to fully integrate a profession that has proven to lower healthcare costs for musculoskeletal problems such as back and neck pain.

The big secret behind chronic pain is that it is caused by how we move, or how poorly we have adapted and developed movement patterns.  This was discussed in the book Cheating Mother Nature, what you need to know to beat chronic pain.

Why chiropractic vs. one of the many medical specialists?

The chiropractic profession has the best reputation and patient satisfaction for the treatment of lower back pain and many other musculoskeletal conditions.  Chiropractic is the only profession that treats musculoskeletal conditions holistically, which is how the body works.

Unlike medical specialties that see the body through the restricted lens of their specialty and have little training in the musculoskeletal realm, chiropractors are primary care for the musculoskeletal system, a role neglected by the American medical system.

A chiropractor will perform a thorough history, holistic evaluation and use proven treatment methods such as manipulation, myofascial release, foot orthotics, and exercises to reduce pain, improve movement and help patients feel and function better using natural methods proven to help.

Patients are often treated immediately following the evaluation to help relieve painful conditions.

Sometimes, a medical referral is necessary but most patients are helped without the use of drugs, medical interventions, expensive tests, or avoidable surgeries.

Conditions such as neck pain, back pain, hip pain, knee pain, foot pain, plantar fasciitis, shoulder joint (rotator cuff) problems, and even wrist elbow, and hand problems are more likely solved through chiropractic lens since the problems are often interrelated.   In other words, upper back problems may cause a lower back problem or knee issue.   A frozen shoulder can actually be a hip problem.   Chiropractors use holistic evaluation to thoroughly assess and treat their patients efficiently and often at a lower cost than traditional medical methods can.
