Magic Speed 4 by Asics, one of the new Carbon plate design running shoes If you are a runner and are wondering which is the best shoe for you, Runners World offers their list of the newest 100 shoes and the 26 rank as this year’s best. I treat many marathoners who are now using the Nike Carbon Plated shoes that are believed to improve running efficiencies and can reduce the time it takes to complete your marathon. While your results may vary, the approximate 4% improvement in efficiency can reduce the time it takes you to complete your marathon significantly. Other manufacturers are now doing carbon plated and non plated shoes as well tweaking the idea to fit their designs. As Runners High showed us in 2024 in my interview with the owner Rob, shoe manufacturers are looking for new ways to add features that will improve your running experience but also increase the cost and margins of profit for the newest shoes they create. Many manufacturers have challenged the status quo hoping to develop the newest trends. Hoka and On are two shoes that did this. Nike did it with the Vaporfly series of shoes and major manufacturers are looking for the next latest and greatest shoe that is a home run for them and their market share. When shopping for running shoes, remember that manufacturers design shoes a certain way and make thousands of shoes for everyone. If you have a wider foot, consider buying a wide and it is important to understand that most running shoes are a half size small including ON. Also, some of the more advanced running shoes may come in a wide which is important for those with wider feet. Saucony always designed shoes with a wider forefoot which I like. Brooks has a slightly wider fit as well and has a feel unique to their designs. Proper fit ensures fewer back, knee, foot or hip issues when running. Buy the shoe that fits you the best for the best results. Fitting any shoe is easy if you follow this blog post on how to properly size a shoe. Are your running shoes the wrong size?
