Why did the CDC mask guidelines change to no masks in most public places for the fully vaccinated?

Why did the CDC mask guidelines change to no masks in most public places for the fully vaccinated? I have been both vaccinated and have had covid-19.   The term super immunity has been used to describe people like me, yet in NJ, we were still told that masking was required. If immunity through vaccination or from antibodies after covid-19 is effective, why the mask?    Shouldn’t being immune allow us all to go maskless in most situations? Our immune systems need exposure to everything in our environment to be effective as it defends us from everything.  Isn’t that how things Read More »

Why take the vaccine for covid-19? Are you still on the fence?

Why vaccinate for covid-19? Are you still on the fence? While reading the newspaper today, there was an article about certain areas that are under-vaccinated in NJ. Some people have held off due to busy work schedules as things get busier in NJ.  Others want to watch others in their family go first and see how they did, while others have read something regarding blood clots in women from the Johnson and Johnson vaccine or not feeling well after taking the Pfizer/Moderna shots. Why isn’t this common American health problem part of the covid-19 pandemic conversation? Wear a mask, social distance, get vaccinated, sanitize often; these are the common talking points we have all heard over and over to avoid spreading covid-19 and avoiding personal infection. While only a small portion of the US population has had covid-19, We may soon realize that as we approach herd immunity, far more of the population has recovered from the disease than we may realize due to testing and other diagnostic limitations.   Others have been Read More »

When can you tell the pandemic is over?

When can you tell the pandemic is over? We are all sick of hearing about covid-19.    Wearing masks, not trusting anyone because they may be the person who infects us and makes us very ill has become a pandemic past-time. There is a lot of information and misinformation regarding the pandemic, the numbers, the death toll, and your personal which can vary greatly depending on your health, your nutrition, your blood type, and other genetic factors which are not fully understood. Some of us are judging how other areas of the country are running their states, even though the Read More »

Will we ever reach Covid-19 herd immunity?

Will we ever reach Covid-19 herd immunity? Herd Immunity means enough people are vaccinated so the community is protected against an illness or virus. Those who have had Covid-19, plus those who have been vaccinated become part of the herd. Depending on who you listen to, herd immunity is reached when between 60-90% of the population has become vaccinated.  While there are a number of us who are unwilling to become vaccinated, as long as most people are exposed either naturally or through inoculation, we can crowd out the virus. There is also the concern of viral variants, some of Read More »
